En el ya pasado año 2013 se celebró el 200 cumpleaños de Verdi y Wagner, ambos nacidos en 1813. Dos compositores totalmente distintos que han marcado la Historia de la Música.

Google celebra el 90º aniversario del nacimiento de Maria Callas

Maria Callas fue una de las más grandes sopranos del S. XX. Aunque nació en Nueva York era de padres griegos. Su carrera musical fue corta pero muy intensa, fue aclamada en el mundo entero, cantó en las mejores salas con los mejores directores. 

Su repertorio abarcó a Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, Mascagni y Bellini.

Aquí os dejo un tutorial para tocar "Jingle Bells" con el piano. No es la misma versión que hacemos nosotros en clase, la mano izquierda varía un poco, pero es parecida.

Woodwind instruments

First, let's see where the woodwind instruments are located in the symphonic orchestra:

Woodwind section:

• FLUTE

The flute was originally made from wood, but now it is made of metal. It is held sideways.

• PICCOLO

The piccolo is a half-sized flute. Because it is smaller, it sounds higher than the flute. The sound of the piccolo is shrill and bright.

• OBOE

The oboist plays an important role in the orchestra, he or she has to play an A to tone up the rest of the instruments. The oboe has a double reed. This is a piece of bamboo cane.

• CLARINET

The clarinet has a single reed, which the player puts into the mouthpiece. The bass clarinet  is a bigger version of the clarinet.

• BASSOON

The wooden tube is four times longer than the oboe. The bassoon often plays the bass line with the cello.

• SAXOPHONE

The saxophone is sometimes included in the orchestra. It is made of brass. It has a sigle reed.  The sound is rich, smooth and sweet. It is very common in Jazz music.

LA PROPORCIÓN ÁUREA EN LAS OBRAS DE DEBUSSY

El compositor impresionista Claude Debussy utilizó en muchas de sus obras la proporción áurea. Una de las más conocidas es "La mer". El libro "Debussy in proportion" analiza el uso de secuencias matemáticas por parte del compositor francés.
